Today, recreational activities are considered an almost useless pastime, even if in reality they have a fundamental value for human culture. From these considerations moves the site-specific project by Stefania Mazzola, designed "tailor-made" for the Gallery's showroom. The subject of Playground / Battleground is the game of Tria, a space made up of rules and fun, whose chessboard was depicted on the walls of several medieval castles. Like a king with his fighters, the player moves pawns on the chessboard, devising movement strategies. Planning to move through a scheme is a practice of military tactics, so the playing field turns into a battlefield, and we are spectators.
